One of the Florida school shooting survivors had the scare of his life thanks to SWAT.

By now you’ve heard of the tragic shooting that took place in Parkland, Florida at Majory Stoneman Douglas High School. Lorenzo Prado, a survivor of the shooting, was initially thought to be the shooter, Nikolas Cruz, by the SWAT team because they had the same color clothes on and had a similar facial structure. According to Complex, Prado said that the SWAT team threw him to the ground, put him in handcuffs and held him a gunpoint.

Prado was very cooperative with them because he “knew any move I made would be the end of my life.” Prado said.

Prado was hiding in the auditorium with other students and due to the description of the shooter given, someone in the auditorium with him turned him in.

“I was just hiding up there. I had no idea what was going on. Then the door started to rattle. At first, the only thought that came to my mind was, ‘I’m going to die, the shooter is going to kill me.’ But then SWAT comes in, and I thought they were here to rescue me. But then as I go down the stairs, I find out that I was wrong. I found out that they thought it was me that killed the 17 people.”

Since then, Prado spoke to the media about gun control in this country, “I’m here to demand change from our government. Because the lives lost, who shall not be lost in vain, shall then be used as a catalyst for change in our country today. We will make a change in this country, and if not today, then tomorrow. And if not tomorrow, the day after that and the day after that, until we achieve the change that we want in this country.”

Yesterday marked a week since the shooting, and hundreds of students walked out of their classrooms in honor of the 17 victims. The area also calling for a national march to promote change.

Prayers for the victims and their families.
