Netflix’s “Netflix is a Joke” brand has just announced that it will debut a massive comedy festival in Los Angeles later this year. The Netflix Is a Joke Fest will feature over 100 shows in over 20 venues all over the city, including a Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration.
Set to appear at the festival will be comedians like Dave Chapelle, Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler, Rosie O’Donnell, Jamie Foxx, David Letterman, Kevin Hart, Lily Tomlin, Martin Lawrence, Wanda Sykes, Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Sarah Silverman, Graham Norton, Ken Jeong, Pete Davidson, and more. During the festival, there will also be the first-ever comedian hall of fame. According to People, the celebration will pay homage and honor George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Joan Rivers, and Robin Williams.
In a statement, Netflix’s chief content officer says, “It”s our honor to transform LA for one week into the funniest place on earth. This festival is a unique celebration of the art of comedy, and the role it plays in reflecting our lives and defining culture. It’s a chance for comedy lovers to come together and see their favorite artists as well as discover new ones, and for us to be able to share the electricity and excitement of the festival in Los Angeles with Netflix members around the world.”
Netflix Is a Joke Fest will be April 27 through May 3. Tickets for the event go on sale Friday on the event’s website.
