A source has told NBC News that YouTube is planning its own feature in an attempt to curb TikTok's reach. The feature is tentatively called "Shorts," and it will only be accessible on the YouTube mobile app. The "Shorts" feature is expected to launch later this year.

YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki mentioned the feature in a recent interview on the NBC News Byers Market Podcast where she said, "Really, really short-form video, like 15 seconds... that is a place that is certainly interesting to look at, and for us to think about."
