Beto O’Rourke Interrupts Texas Gov. Abbot, Says ‘You Are Doing Nothing’

An 18-year-old man entered a Texas elementary school and proceeded to kill 21 people on Tuesday.
This mass shooting at Robb Elementary School led to the deaths of 19 children and two adults, according to the Associated Press.
Law enforcement fatally shot the lone gunman, who has been identified as Salvador Ramos, on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott held a press conference in response to the Robb Elementary School shooting. Amid the press conference, Beto O’Rourke interrupted and confronted the governor about the shooting.
The schoolchildren victims range from ages 8-to-11. The two adult victims are Eva Mireles and Irma Garcia, who were co-teachers and died together in their classroom, according to The Washington Post.
In a explosive change of events on Tuesday, the school went from celebrating victories, freshly printed honor rolls and getting ready for summer break to mourning a tragic loss of life. The shooting occurred only two days before summer break, according to the school’s website.
On the school website, Garcia’s staff biography says, “Hello Boys and Girls! Let me introduce myself. I am Mrs. Garcia and I will be one of your 4th grade teachers this year. I am so excited to begin this new school year already! I want to share some fun facts about myself. This will be the beginning of my 23rd year of teaching. All of which have been here at Robb Elementary. I have been a Co-teacher for 5 years now with Ms. Mireles. My husbands name is Joe Garcia. We have been married for 24 years and have 4 children. I love to BBQ with my husband, listen to music, and take country cruises to Concan.”
Mireles‘ biography says, “Welcome to the 4th grade! We have a wonderful year ahead of us! First, let me share some information about myself: I’ve been an educator for 17 years. I’ve been Co-teaching with Mrs. Garcia for 5 years. I have a supportive, fun, and loving family, which includes a UCISD officer (Ruiz), college graduate daughter (Adalynn), and 3 furry friends(Callie, Kane,& Koda). I love running, hiking, and now you just might see me riding a bike!!”
Ramos armed himself with an assault rifle and a tactical vest as he stormed into the school, according to reports by CNN. He proceeded to barricade himself in adjoining classrooms of schoolchildren and opened fire.
According to NPR, there have been 27 school shootings that resulted in injury or death this year.
