Help Teachers ‘Clear The Lists’ Before School Starts
Remember going to school as a kid? You’d have the construction paper, the glue sticks, the paper, the markers that smelled like grape, and so on. The walls were adorned with decorations and it was a lively place. It’s something we took for granted, but it turns out for a lot of teachers, the burden is on them to come up with all of that.
With CCSD starting up in a few weeks, Aimee+Shawn got to talking about the #ClearTheLists movement, where people are encouraged to help their local teachers get the supplies they need to educate our kids to the best of their abilities. Teachers throughout the country have Amazon wish lists where they are asking parents to help chip away at the costs of educating their kids.
Shawn’s oldest, Colin, is entering Kindergarten this year and decided to wipe out his teacher’s list entirely. Any little bit helps.
In case you were wondering, Nevada spends among the lowest per student in the country, at just $9,100 per student. Utah and Idaho spend the least at $8,000 per student each. The average nationwide is nearly $14,000 per student. Less spending per student means less supplies, means less pay for teachers, and means more burden on their budgets.
We put out the call to teachers and a slew of them showed up on our Instagram and CALLING ALL TEACHERS! Share your Amazon wish list and tell us what you NEED cleared off your list!
