That Moment You Realized… Oh No, I’m Old
We all grow up looking at our elders and picking them apart. The clothes they wear are so out of style. Why are they pulling weeds? Boring. Coming home in a dress shirt and tie, what are you a loser?!
Well, there comes a time in all of our lives where, slowly but surely, you start to turn into your parents. It usually happens before you recognize it. But one day you’ll look in the mirror, or hear yourself talk, or do something and realize you’ve become the elder, and the kids are making fun of you.
Today on Aimee+Shawn we tackled the scary realization we’ve all had when we turned that corner from cool, hip, young person to old piece of dirt that doesn’t understand TikTok.
Shawn realized it last year when he went on a full reconnaissance mission to determine who is walking in his rocks in the front of his house. He set up a camera, was alerted every time someone walked in his front lawn and it turns out practically every delivery person was taking the 2 second shortcut and causing his rocks to recede. He tweeted complaints, he had phone calls with delivery services, and then all of a sudden it hit him. He is literally saying “get off my lawn”. He had become an old codger.
Aimee just a couple days ago had spontaneous heartburn. Was it after a hearty Italian dinner? No. It was just…heartburn. There because her body is failing her, as it is failing all of us slowly but surely.
