How Much Did Recent Rain Help Lake Mead
RAIN MAKING A MINOR DENT IN LAKE MEAD
The rain that the valley has been experiencing over the last week has been refreshing… some parts of the valley got doused including the southwest, Henderson and Nellis. Every time it rains, some optimist in the room says “we need the rain”, gesturing wildly towards the shrinking Lake Mead. But has it made a dent?
Here's rainfall for the last week. Totals are the highest amounts in their individual grids. This highlights how active it has been in the NE & SE & how the NW has dodged the worst of the rain so far. The largest amount is Tuscany in Henderson with 1.90". #vegaswx @FOX5Vegas pic.twitter.com/E2dO2qiIvC

Well, slightly. From Wednesday through Sunday last week, Lake Mead rose three inches. Nothing to sneeze at, but also not nearly enough to fix the issue. Almost all of Lake Mead’s water – over 95% – comes from melting snow in the Rockies. So… we are glad we are getting the rain, but lets not put the grass back in just yet.
CCSD STILL ON THE HUNT FOR TEACHERS AND DRIVERS
School begins a week from today, and the mad dash to fill both teacher and school bus driver vacancies is on. There are over 1,450 jobs for licensed and certified professionals on the CCSD website. Clark County School District released a statement late last week saying a licensed teacher will be in 91 percent of classrooms. School bus drivers will be available for 90 percent of scheduled routes. If you’re interested in a job, you can find one here.
TREASURE HUNT ENDS IN SUNSET PARK
It was a real-life treasure hunt as over two thousand players went on the search for a special coin, and a thousand dollars. Tony Kneisser found that coin under a bench at Sunset Park, which scored him the goods. He’s the first to ever win a search twice.
The Great U.S. Treasure Hunt goes all around the United States, challenging players to go on the hunt for hidden goods. Next week, the hunt moves to Los Angeles, with Austin, New York and Asheville, North Carolina after that.
