Wait Until You Hear What’s In Las Vegas’ Wastewater
IT’S THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!
Clark County School District is officially underway today, so expect those school zone lights to start flashing again, and keep your head on a swivel. Speeding in a school zone will cost you double the usual ticket, and you’ll get popped for U-Turns in school zones too. Also, fun fact, if a bus is stopped on the other side of the street, and there’s a raised median in the middle of the road, you don’t have to stop. Just be careful. Get to school safe kids. And check the new start times – they have changed this year!
THERE’S SOMETHING IN THE WATER IN LAKE MEAD. IT’S DRUGS.
You may have heard news about COVID levels being monitored in wastewater facilities here in Southern Nevada and in other places nationwide. What if they could measure other things too? Well, they can and they are. 8 News Now reported on the findings that CSN have uncovered as part of a massive worldwide study and the findings are equal parts concerning and somewhat humorous. While taking measurements of wastewater flying through the Las Vegas Wash, they found two major events that changed the makeup of the waste water. The NFL Draft saw a significant uptick in anti-depressants, cholesterol and high blood pressure medications. But that was nothing compared to the weekend of EDC. The Monday that followed the event saw a 300 times the normal measurements of MDMA. Researchers say it’s not enough to cause issues for humans, but the big-lipped fish at the Lake, they might have a harder time with it.
LATE FOR A VERY IMPORTANT DINNER NEXT MONTH
A very cool cocktail experience is coming to town at a secret location next month. It’s called “The Alice: An Immersive Cocktail Experience”, and the 90 minute “tea party to end all tea parties” kicks off September 28th and lasts two months. The Alice In Wonderland themed event will feature puzzles, riddles, challenges and games, and cocktails of course. There are over and under 21 sessions available and tickets are on sale now.
