Las Vegas Ranked As One Of The Rudest Cities In America
How rude! A new survey from Preply has named Las Vegas the fourth-rudest city in the United States.
Often you’ll hear lists like this and know they are swayed heavily by tourism and what takes place on Las Vegas Boulevard, but this survey specifically polled residents in the 30 biggest metro areas in the country, and Vegas finds itself among the big boys when it comes to rudeness.

- Philadephia, Pennsylvania – 6.43 out of 10
- Memphis, Tennessee – 6.05 out of 10
- New York, New York – 6 out of 10
- Las Vegas, Nevada – 5.98 out of 10
- Boston, Massachusetts – 5.9 out of 10
(the average rudeness score is 5.1)
The survey measured several different factors including “being absorbed by phone in public”, “not letting people merge in traffic” (for which we are certain we scored high), “not slowing down around pedestrians (there’s another big Las Vegas faux pas), “being noisy in public” and “not acknowledging strangers”.
It’s that last one, “not acknowledging strangers,” that supposedly ranked the highest in Southern Nevada, specifically non-locals not acknowledging strangers. The non-locals trend continues, with Las Vegas ranking number 8 on the list for cities with ruder non-locals (people not born and raised in an area).
Other major issues in Las Vegas included “not respecting personal hygiene or space”.
Of course, whenever there is a list like this, there is a flip side. Let’s take a look at the cities in America that are just far too kind…

- Austin, Texas – 3.91 out of 10
- San Diego, California – 4.17 out of 10
- Fort Worth, Texas – 4.2 out of 10
- Nashville, Tennessee – 4.33 out of 10
- Indianapolis, Indiana – 4.47 out of 10
(the average rudeness score is 5.1)
The poll certainly seems to indicate that non-locals are the ones typically considered to be the ruder ones in our community… Mark Wahlberg you’re on notice.
