Selena Gomez Documentary Sheds Light On ‘Darkness’ In Her Stardom
Selena Gomez is baring it all in an upcoming documentary. On Wednesday (September 8), Apple Original Films announced they have landed the global rights to a new documentary feature, Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me. The project is directed and produced by Alek Keshishian, who previously directed 1991’s Madonna: Truth or Dare.
The Only Murders In The Building star will give fans a rare look into her life as a singer, songwriter, actress, producer, entrepreneur and activist, according to Apple. “After years in the limelight, Selena Gomez achieves unimaginable stardom. But just as she reaches a new peak, an unexpected turn pulls her into darkness,” Apple teases. “This uniquely raw and intimate documentary spans her six-year journey into a new light.”
Gomez also teased the project on her Instagram with a video of her documentary’s title card in a small movie theater. “Wanna hear a part to my story… My Mind & Me coming soon to @AppleTvPlus,” her caption reads.

Gomez recently released a music video for “Calm Down,” a song in collaboration with Nigerian musician Rema on Wednesday. Rema dropped the original solo track back in February, but tapped Gomez in to add her sparkle last week. In the music video, Gomez stares intensely into the camera and dances along to the laid-back beat.

Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me will mark the second collaboration between Apple and Lighthouse Management + Media with Interscope Films. The same producers worked on Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry, which received an Emmy nomination in 2021.
Next Monday night (September 12), Gomez will appear at the 2022 Emmy Awards alongside her Only Murders in the Building co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, who are nominated against one another for outstanding actor in a comedy series. She’s also nominated for an Emmy as a co-producer of the series.
