From L.A. to Vegas: Mark Wahlberg is Moving for His Kids
Mark Wahlberg is saying goodbye to Los Angeles and hello to Las Vegas! The actor and producer recently announced that he and his family are moving from Southern California to Vegas. While some might think this is an odd choice, Wahlberg says he’s doing it for his children. Here’s what he had to say about the move.
Wahlberg Says He Wants a ‘Fresh Start’ for His Family.
In an interview with EXTRA, Wahlberg said that he and his wife, Rhea Durham, decided it was time for a “fresh start” for their family. The couple has four children: Ella, 19, Michael, 16, Brendan, 14, and Grace, 12. Wahlberg said he wants his kids to grow up in a place where they can be “safe and have access to a great education.”
While L.A. certainly has its share of top-notch schools, it seems the city has lost its luster for the Wahlbergs. “We just feel like we need a new adventure,” Wahlberg said of the move. “We’ve been here almost 20 years.” He added that he’s excited to explore all that Vegas has to offer with his family.
Is This a Smart Move for the Family?
So, is this a smart move for the Wahlbergs? Vegas does have some excellent schools—including several private schools that would no doubt provide an excellent education for the Wahlberg children. And with all of the family-friendly attractions in Vegas (think: Cirque du Soleil shows, world-class museums, etc.), there’s no doubt the kids will never be bored.
Mark Wahlberg is heading from sunny Los Angeles to Las Vegas and Vegas is happy to have him! It sounds like Mark and his wife Rhea Durham are ready for something different than what Southern California has to offer them currently, after living there “almost 20 years”. I think with the number of different businesses Wahlberg has his hands in he won’t be bored in Vegas.
