Tristan Thompson’s Bank Account Just Got a Little Lighter

While it was already well-known that Tristan Thompson had fathered two children in the span of 6 months, the news that he had to pony up $9,500 in monthly child support for his second-youngest child is just too juicy not to talk about!

Now, his NBA contracts have totaled $100M over the span of his career, Tristan is currently without a team and therefore not earning income. That didn’t stop him from reaching an agreement with Maralee Nichols when it comes to their 1-year-old son Theo, though. Let’s dive into the details!

The Details of the Settlement:

Tristan agreed to pay $9,500 a month in child support and also cover some of Nichols’ lawyer fees. We can only imagine that Maralee drove a hard bargain in negotiations because a settlement like this is sure to put a dent in Tristan’s bank account since he should be in the unemployment line, and isn’t currently on a team and therefore not bringing in any money, $9,500 may seem low but it is important to note that income is the operative factor in determining child support payments. Remember he threatened Maralee when she was pregnant that he wasn’t going to play anymore and she wouldn’t get any more. I think $9,500 will do for now.

Maralee will have sole custody of Theo and while they haven’t figured out an official visitation plan yet, those talks will come in the near future. It’ll be interesting to see how things unfold between them considering their past tumultuous history. It’s unclear what type of relationship they will have going forward but one thing is certain–Maralee has already won big when it comes to this settlement!

It’ll be interesting to see if Tristan continues making his monthly payments on time now that he’s no longer playing for an NBA team (or any other professional sports team).  Only time will tell…

Popular Christmas Toys The Year You Were Born

Toys have been around for centuries sparking joy in family house holds across the world. Parents will go to the end of lengths to get their child popular Christmas toys just to see them smile.

Stacker created a list of the most sought out toys from the years you were born and if these toys don’t spark instant nostalgia we don’t know what will. The toy list was created with valuable information from national toy archives and data from The Strong National Museum of Play. Before we dive into which toys were popular from years past we dug up the origin history of the word toy.

The history origin of the word “toy” is very fascinating but still remains slightly unknown. According to the Britannica, the history of the toy dates back to early BCE. The word toy was first written back in 500 BCE from the Greeks. They created what we know today as the modern yo-yo which were made from wood and metal. The Britannica did state that it is believed that China may be the original creator of the yo-yo from a date before 500 BCE.

As to what is the oldest toy in the world? Many archeologists are still figuring that out. The Fleet Science Center at FleetScience.org says, the world’s oldest toy is the spinning top.

We will wait for more history to become uncovered as the world may never know. But what we do know is that this list give great insight on the evolution of toys in America and how modern technology has advanced overtime. The prices and quality of popular Christmas toys have changed significantly. For the better? We will let you be the judge of that.
