HELP! Give A Pup A Forever Home
Does your home need a furry friend? Lately, temperatures have been below normal in the valley, and animal shelters are struggling to keep up with the influx of strays that are turning up in need of shelter from the cold. One shelter in particular—the City of Henderson’s shelter—is beyond capacity, so they’re begging for the public to give these animals a loving home.
The City of Henderson’s shelter has room for 60 or 70 dogs. Right now, they have about 100! As the below-normal temperatures continue, they will have to continue to take any stray that is turned in and they’ve had a lot lately. “Our shelter is basically busting at the seams with dogs, so we definitely need the public to step up and adopt,” shared Danielle Harney, Animal Control Administrator with the City of Henderson. The shelter has seen an influx of animals come in during the last two weeks: 148 animals during the first 12 days of December alone!
How could anyone turn down such cute faces?
There are all kinds of breeds available for adoption at this particular shelter. From tiny Chihuahuas to huge Great Danes – you can find just about any breed you can think of here! And if there isn’t one that fits your lifestyle, maybe you could try fostering or volunteering instead? There’s no better way to help out than by giving these sweet pets some extra attention and love before finding them their forever homes! Plus, it’s always nice when someone takes an interest in helping those less fortunate; it not only makes them feel good but also teaches them important skills like responsibility and compassion towards others.
If you can open your home to a new pet, the shelter is offering half-off adoptions through the rest of the month.
Adopting a pet is more than just adding another member to your family – it helps make sure that fewer strays end up on the streets and out in the cold weather while also providing you with endless amounts of love and companionship! So if you’re looking for an adorable new addition to your family (or even just want to lend a helping hand!), be sure to check out what your local animal shelters have available – there’s bound to be something perfect for you! With temperatures still low, these animals need homes now more than ever – so let’s get them off the streets and into loving arms as soon as possible! What are you waiting for? Let’s go save some lives!
