Watch For These Major Changes To Las Vegas Strip Properties In 2023
With the amount of changes and upgrades the Las Vegas Strip underwent in 2022, it might seem impossible that the Strip could experience any more change in a mere year-long time span. However, the current plans for numerous 2023 Las Vegas Strip properties will challenge that time frame with major enhancements and upgrades planned over the course of the new year.
According to KTNV, these upcoming changes will vastly increase figures within our booming tourism and hospitality industries. “The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority construction bulletin shows 581,000 square feet of new convention space and more than 4,700 new hotel rooms, bringing the total inventory to more than 156,000 rooms.” This massive push of expansion will certainly mark substantial growth for the Las Vegas Strip, as these projected increases would portray a 3.1% year-over-year increase.
So where are all of the new rooms and additional convention space going to be?
We can largely thank the development of Fontainebleau for the vast majority of these additions. The completion of this seemingly never-ending project will ultimately contribute an extra 3,700 rooms and 550,000 square feet of convention space to the Las Vegas Strip. It is projected that Fontainebleau will open by the last few months of 2023.
Also set to open in late 2023 is the highly-anticipated Durango Hotel and Casino. The upcoming Station Casinos property will add more than 200 rooms and 21,000 square feet of meeting and convention space to Las Vegas once the $750 million project is completed.
Million dollar makeovers are headed to two major Las Vegas Strip properties – Circus Circus and New York New York. Both resorts plan to renovate their hotel rooms, with Circus Circus projecting to spend $30 million and New York New York shelling out $63 million to complete the project.
Perhaps the most highly anticipated opening of 2023 is the MSG Sphere. Las Vegas locals and tourists have watched the massive venue come to life over the course of its multi-year construction, and, once completed, will seat more than 17,000 people. It’s projected the MSG Sphere will open sometime this year… Fingers crossed!
