The End of Free Password Sharing on Netflix Is Near
It looks like the days of free password sharing on Netflix are coming to an end. According to a recent letter sent by Netflix to its shareholders, the company plans on ending the practice by the end of March 2023. This news has come as a shock to many Netflix users who have been relying on free password sharing to access their favorite streaming content. Let’s take a closer look at what this means for Netflix users and why this decision was made.
Why Is Netflix Ending Free Password Sharing? Netflix says that ending free password sharing is necessary in order for them to continue investing in and improving their service.
They cited that over 100 million households are currently taking advantage of someone else’s paid subscription!
That large number is having an adverse effect on their profits and ability to invest in new content and technology. Luckily Netflix is one of the few that I actually pay for and don’t use someone else’s password. 😉
What does this mean for you? If you are like the millions of people who have been taking advantage of free password sharing, this news may be upsetting but not necessarily surprising. With more and more people getting access to streaming services like Netflix, it was only a matter of time before they looked for ways to cut down on costs such as sharing passwords with friends or family members. Now that this practice will soon be coming to an end, those users will need to find alternate methods for accessing their favorite streaming shows and movies. Time to get off of your mom’s account, unfortunately.
If you’ve been using someone else’s account up until now, you should start making plans for how you plan on watching That 90’s Show, Love is Blind, or Outerbanks.
Don’t find yourself in Netflix jail!
It’s not as scary as you think and you can pick it up pretty quickly!
