Nevadans Encouraged To Check If They Are Owed Money (NOT A SCAM!)
Okay we are the first to admit the headline sounds a bit scammy… like every “fake article” you’ve seen. But it’s no scam. February 1st is Unclaimed Property Day and Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine wants you to get paid if you’re owed money.
Owed money?! Let us explain.
Perhaps you moved to Las Vegas and left your worries in the rear view mirror. Did you trade in your plates a few months after you re-registered your car? Maybe you changed your car insurance. Or perhaps there was a bank account you left in that other state with a few bucks in it? Well… that money has a home. It’s in your wallet.
All of that left over money is spent rotting in a holding account, being tended to by your state (current or former) waiting for you to come get it. Nevada has an entire Unclaimed Property Division that specifically handles this and reunites people with their long-lost, sweet cash.
This author just got a random $39 from a toll authority in a state he didn’t even live in, and some money left on a car insurance account. Seriously! It works! And according to Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine, there is a ton of money out their waiting for Nevadans. “The state of Nevada is currently holding over $1 billion in unclaimed property. We encourage everyone to visit our website to see if we’re holding onto any unclaimed property which is owed to them.”
If you want to see if you are owed money, you can click this link AND click this link and search for your name. Let your fam know too… they could all be getting a nice little bonus in the mail.
