U2 Coming This Fall To Las Vegas, Super Bowl Ad Confirms (VIDEO)
We knew they were building MSG Sphere. We knew U2 was coming to Las Vegas. Now… the world knows.
In a mysterious and well-timed 15 second commercial during the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl on Sunday, Las Vegas’ newest residency was confirmed with a time frame to boot! (While the Super Bowl ad was only 15 seconds, they have a much longer, more theatrical version below)
Flying orbs in the sky. We don’t know if they’ve been planning this or if it’s a response to the little balloon problem we’ve been having. Whatever the case – it couldn’t have been timed better.
“U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At The Sphere” is set to premiere “Fall 2023” at the LED-strewn ball behind The Palazzo. While that boils it down to three months, the CFO of Madison Square Garden Entertainment (who is running the joint) said last week the venue would open in September. Review-Journal has gone a step further, reporting the band is expected to take the stage starting September 29th – but that’s not confirmed just yet.
This would be the first time the legendary Irish band will take the stage for live performances in four years.
What can we expect from U2 In Las Vegas?
Bono said in an interview last year – before the show was confirmed – what the then-rumored show would be like. “I can promise you it won’t be like anything you’ve ever seen in Las Vegas or anywhere ever. It is the most extraordinary — If it comes off, it’s grand madness by one hundred,” Bono said. Even for a band with their level of performance, that is setting expectations high. Even higher for a venue which we still think – but don’t know – we understand.
