Taking a Shower at an Airbnb: Not For Long
Ever heard the phrase “water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink”? Me neither… But for some Airbnb owners, that phrase hits close to home (no pun intended) —especially when it comes to showering. In an effort to cut down on their water costs and their cleaning costs, some Airbnb owners are cracking down on how much time people are taking in the shower, how much cologne or perfume they’re wearing, and other hygiene-related activities. No… I’m not kidding.
Water is one of the biggest expenses for many businesses. As such, some Airbnb owners are looking for ways to reduce their water usage while still providing guests with a comfortable stay. Just not a clean stay. One way they’re doing this is by asking guests to limit their showers and be mindful of how much body spray or cologne they wear after getting out of the shower.
Do you want me to shower or do you want me to use my body spray? I mean I won’t do both, but I MUST do one.
Some Airbnb owners are also trying to cut back on what they spend on post-guest cleanings. This means that if guests leave behind stains from using too much hair product or body lotion in the shower, or if there are noticeable scents from using too much perfume or cologne after taking a shower, then those things will be taken into consideration when it comes time for the guest’s damage deposit return period.
How can you avoid these fees – you may ask? You can be dirty.. but also clean. Or you can stay at the Motel 6 – They’ll leave the light on and you can also take a long shower. 😉
