Southwest Las Vegas seems like the corner of the valley that was stuck for years in the “incomplete” stage. A casino was “coming soon” for a couple decades. “Sullivan Square” was going to create a mini live/work/play community at Durango and the 215 but only got as far as a hole in the ground. The most fine dining establishment you could find was China-A-Go-Go. Well things are changing quickly. IKEA is open, Uncommons is coming together, Durango casino is on the path to completion. Now Las Vegas’ new entertainment destination “The Bend” is starting to rise from the dirt.
The Bend is the brainchild of J.Dapper, the man behind Dapper Companies who owns a ton of different retail and commercial areas throughout the valley. Signs have been up on the land north of IKEA on Sunset Road for years, and the initial opening was set for 2019. Delays set in, but if you’ve driven past the project recently you’ll see progress is being made.
What is going to be at The Bend in southwest Las Vegas?
This new property is set to have a ton of dining, shopping and entertainment destinations. The one we are most pumped for? Electric Pickle. A pickleball hang that also has cornhole, bocce ball, a tasty and eclectic menu across a 10,000 square foot venue. Pickleball screamed into popularity over the last few years, so why not have a cool venue for it?
Other retail, dining, beauty and entertainment destinations planned include The Great Greet Mediterranean Grill, Sola Salon Studios, Aces And Ales, Mothership Coffee Roasters, and, brace yourself southwest… you’re about to get your own Freed’s Dessert Shop. We can already feel our belts tightening and we are totally OK with it.
The first phase of “The Bend” is tentatively set to open by the end of the year. All of a sudden, southwest Las Vegas is the new hot neighborhood in the valley!
