Where Did April Fools Come From
April 1st marks the beginning of a day filled with practical jokes and fun. April Fools’ Day is celebrated all around the world and it has been for centuries. But where did it come from? Also… how do I not get pranked?
No one really knows for sure when April Fools‘ Day began, which makes sense. But there are several theories about its origin. One popular theory suggests that it dates back to 1582, when France switched to a new calendar called the Gregorian calendar. According to this theory, those who were slow to adapt or failed to understand the change continued to celebrate New Year’s on April 1 — which made them targets for practical jokes and pranks by those who had adopted the new calendar.
There are some tips for not getting tricked on April Fools:
- Be aware!
- Don’t believe everything.. or really anything.
- Think ahead. If they always play tricks… this is their day!
- Prank before getting pranked
- Have fun. Tell your husband you’re pregnant again.
- Get it all on tape
Are you a prankster? Or are you the one that always gets pranked? I always get pranked but I can laugh at it at least. What are you going to do and who are you going to prank this year for April fools? I always forget about it, and then the day is over, but I am going to try really hard to prank my husband or my 15 year old Jayden and I promise I will get it on camera to share 😉
