The Egg Soda Trend – It’s A Real Thing

We’ve all heard about food trends. It seems like every week there’s a new fad that has everyone talking and eating or drinking or honestly, gagging. This latest trend may be the worst. A viral video on TikTok has sparked a nationwide obsession with Egg Soda. Yes, even with the price of eggs.

Egg Soda is a Vietnamese dessert drink that consists of raw egg yolk, club soda, condensed milk, and ice. Sounds yummy huh? Even some of the brave souls who have tried it admit that it tastes… well… ok. The combination of flavors might not be for everyone, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping people from trying it out themselves—and posting videos of their experiences on Tik Tok!

There are so many people that are so down to do these food challenges. I am not one of those. I think people are just looking for clout. They’re intrigued by the idea of drinking something so unusual and want to see if they can handle it… and then make fun of their friends who can’t.

Whether you love it or hate it (or haven’t even tried it yet!), Egg Soda has definitely become an internet sensation in recent weeks. While it seems a little off it’s actually not even the grossest that I have seen trending. Does everyone remember when people were drinking TIDE? If you don’t, look it up. Those people are the reason I can’t get my Tide pods without asking for management to unlock the detergent case at Albertsons.
