Enjoy These New Exhibits, Events At Springs Preserve In 2023
Looking for affordable family fun in Las Vegas? Springs Preserve has you covered through the remainder of 2023! According to a press release, the Las Vegas landmark has announced several new exhibits, events, and shows for the whole family to enjoy. And trust me, you’re going to want to go ahead and mark these down on your calendar.
Springs Preserve is open Thursday-Monday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., but please note that some of the exhibits and events listed below have different hours listed. General admission for Nevada residents with ID is $9.95 for adults, $4.95 for children ages 3 to 17, and free for children 2 and under. General admission for non-Nevada residents is $18.95 for adults, $10.95 for children ages 3 to 17, and free for children 2 and under. SPECIAL EVENTS
- Butterfly Habitat
- Through May 29
- 10 a.m.-3 p.m. (last entry at 2:45 pm)
- Wander through our unique Butterfly Habitat and witness the fascinating dance between free-flying butterflies, the plants that sustain them, and their important role as pollinators in the ecosystem. Dates for this seasonal attraction may vary depending on weather. Check the Springs Preserve website for updates. Free with general admission or Springs Preserve membership.
- Trails Clean-up Volunteer Event
- Saturday, May 13
- 7:30-10 a.m.
- Roll-up your sleeves and help restore the natural beauty of the Springs Preserve’s trail system. Must be 14 years or older to volunteer. Registrations are required. Please contact volunteer office for more information.
- Earth Matters Exhibition
- May 15-Sept. 4
- Earth Matters: Rethink the Future welcomes visitors to a place where they can explore our changing planet through a different lens, immerse themselves in incredible ecosystems, and learn how the smallest of actions can have a big impact on our natural world. Featuring thought-provoking and fully interactive exhibits, Earth Matters covers topical themes such as biodiversity, rising global temperatures, and carbon emissions across an informative journey that will inspire visitors to find new answers to big questions.
- DRI Science at the Springs–The Art of Science
- Thursday, June 16
- 6:30-8:30 p.m.
- The Art of Science, a multimedia, science storytelling event featuring Desert Research Institute scientists, explores the intersection of creativity and the scientific process. Attendees will learn how to look at the world through a lens of artful discovery. The 21-and-over event includes a no-host beverage and snack bar. Purchase tickets at springspreserve.org.
- Fall Plant Sale
- Saturday, September 23
- 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Spruce up your outdoor living spaces with the perfect desert-adapted plants. The fall plant sale will feature a variety of plant species ranging in size from 2 inches to 5 gallons. Springs Preserve garden experts will be available to answer your gardening questions. For easy transport, be sure to bring a wagon or cart for your purchases. Admission to the plant sale is free.
- Haunted Harvest
- Thursday-Sunday, October 19-22
- 5-9 p.m.
- Guaranteed to be a spooktacular good time, little ghost and goblins will scream with delight at this family-friendly outdoor event. Attendance is limited and tickets are sold online only. Tickets go on-sale September 1. This event is expected to sell out.
- Día de Muertos
- Friday-Sunday, November 3-5
- 5-9 p.m.
- This centuries-old celebration—rooted in Latin American cultures—honors loved ones through colorful and joyous traditions. Blending rich customs with exciting activities for all ages, Día de Muertos features live theater and dance performances, music and mariachis, entertaining games, arts and crafts, food vendors, and much more. Tickets go on sale September 1.

- Toddler Time Kids’ Activity

- Bring your little ones to the Springs Preserve for kid-friendly fun with a new theme every week! Recommended for ages 5 and under. Free for members or with general admission.
- Ride the Train
- 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Jump aboard the Boomtown Express, a guided, narrated ride on our life-size locomotive. The train stops at Boomtown 1905, a recreated streetscape of early-1900s downtown Las Vegas. Free with admission or membership to the Springs Preserve. The train schedule is subject to change based on weather, road conditions and special event availability. Call 702-822-7700 or visit the Springs Preserve ticket office for the current schedule.
- Crack A Geode Activity
- 10 a.m.-3p.m.
- Choose it, smash it, keep it! Crack open your own geode and discover the treasure inside. Drop into the Sustainability Gallery. Last “crack” half hour prior to close. $5 Members, $6 + general admission for Non-Members.
- Nature Badge Kids’ Education Program
- 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Get ready to earn a Nature Badge through STEM exploration. Participants in the program can earn a badge on a new discipline each month, with topics ranging from archaeology to oceanography. There is a total of six badges to earn with a rotating, monthly topics. Swing by the Sustainability Gallery to start your adventure. Free for members or with general admission.
- WaterWorks Museum
- WaterWorks is an interactive, behind-the-scenes look at the inner-workings of water-resource treatment and delivery in Southern Nevada. Learn about the challenges and triumphs of the journey of water. The exhibit, located in the Charleston Heights Pumping Station, is presented by the Las Vegas Valley Water District, Southern Nevada Water Authority and Springs Preserve, in partnership with ONE DROP™, with contributions from the RBC Blue Water Project and Springs Preserve Foundation. Free for members or included with general admission.
- Boomtown 1905 Experience
- Step back in time with a visit to Boomtown 1905, a recreated early Las Vegas streetscape. Explore historical re-creations of the original train depot, Arizona Club, Majestic Theatre, First State Bank, Lincoln Hotel, and mercantile. Encounter interpretive, interactive exhibits and period décor to learn about early-1900s Las Vegas. Free for members or included with general admission.
- SPRINGS CAFE
- 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
- The Springs Café offers exceptional sammiches, salads, brunch, burgers and libations at the Springs Preserve. Made from fresh, healthy ingredients, menu items include vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.
