RIP To Bark-André Furry: A Good Boy
Las Vegas had been through a lot in 2017. 1 October had the community reeling and the city needed a hero. Through sheer luck, the Vegas Golden Knights were starting their season only a handful of days later. The team was barely on the radar as they began their journey as an expansion team, destined to be terrible. But they weren’t. They helped lift the city out of a terrible funk. Super-fandom rose from the team’s rise, and a furry little therapy dog named Bark-André Furry stole the most hearts.
The little pup was always dressed to the nines and rooting on the team on social media. He even found his way to his namesake, former Golden Knights goalie Marc-André Fleury, while hanging out at team practices at City National Arena. Needless to say, Bark-André was more than excited to meet his French-Canadian hero.
But his presence was particularly felt at Summerlin Hospital where the pup served as a therapy dog for children. His owner Rick Williams brought Bark everywhere he’d go, and spread smiles throughout the valley.
Unfortunately, Bark-André had his health turn for the worse late last year. Eye issues, deteriorating blood work and other issues turned to a serious issue for the pup. Facebook fan groups for the team held their collective breath for the unofficial team mascot. Unfortunately, the Rainbow Bridge came calling for this four-legged fan.
Rick took to Bark’s twitter account to announce the news of his passing, just one day before the start of the Stanley Cup Final.
What a ride!
