Man “Ran” Mount Charleston Marathon In Heelys
It’s something we’ve all thought about but no one (that we know of) has done. Why doesn’t someone run a marathon in Heelys? Well leave it up to a YouTuber to try to pull it off on Mount Charleston.
WillNE is a YouTuber (real name William Lenney) who challenges his friend to do the wild things he does. The loser has to pay the price.
This time, the London-based YouTuber decided to take his talents to the pavement. He challenged his friend to run a marathon in Heelys. How they did it was wildly different and made all the difference. While his friend sought out a location in Germany that was bound to be the least hot, Will decided to use gravity in his favor and head to the marathon with the biggest drop in elevation: the REVEL Mount Charleston Marathon.
So… How’d he do on Heelys in the Mount Charleston Marathon?
The event took place on April 1st (such a perfect day considering how foolish this was) and the battle was… a lot harder than you’d think. Those brand new leather Heelys were a little less comfortable than he hoped. Turns out having to run on the balls of your feet (in the moments you’re not rolling) will cause some major damage to your toes. His toes were so mangled near the end of the race that he was literally bleeding through his shoes. The pain causing him to go so slowly that Las Vegas Metro was closing the race directly behind him.
When all was said and done, Will did pretty terribly. He finished in 1,518th out of 1725. His race lasted just over 8 hours. But hey, he finished! He’s not proud of it… until he realized he was faster than his counterpart.
Next time, drive.
