What Dads Really Teach Us
Father’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate it than by highlighting what our dads really teach us.
A recent survey by Not Your Father’s Root Beer has given us some interesting insights into the top skills that dads pass on to their children. From basic life skills like riding a bike, changing a tire, and driving to more complex ones like decision-making, leadership, and money management, dads have a lot to offer.
According to the survey, 30% of people say that their father taught them how to cook. I wish my husband had any idea how to cook anything other than corndogs and hot pockets (no shade). 25% of millennials say their father taught them how to clean. This may not seem like a glamorous skill, but it is an essential one and your spouse will thank Dad. Knowing how to keep your living space clean is a sign of maturity but also contributes to maintaining good physical and mental health. I will say my husband is the CLEAN one and it has rubbed off on the kids thank God.
Another crucial skill that fathers teach their children is money management. 13% of the survey’s respondents said that their fathers taught them how to manage their finances. As we know, money management is one of the most critical skills to have in life. Knowing how to budget, save, invest, and spend wisely can help us stay financially stable and achieve our goals.
The survey also highlighted the top skills that dads pass on to their children. Like how to ride a bike, drive a car, repair and maintenance, decision-making skills, leadership, reading a map, and cooking. These skills are not only practical but also essential for personal growth and development.
Happy Father’s to all of them out there. Thank you for what you do 🙂
