July 4th Travel Is Going To Be Crazy This Year
The Fourth of July weekend is here, and there are so so many Americans making travel plans for the holiday weekend. However, this year, the travel scenario has been a bit different due to weather in certain parts of the country and staffing issues.
Over 20,000 flights have been delayed, and more than 5,000 canceled.
The TSA has predicted that this weekend will be the busiest weekend of air travel since the pandemic began. With all the chaos and uncertainty of air travel, it might be a smart idea to consider a train or boat for your July 4th travel. I mean folks. That is a lot of delays this week alone. A dad of a great friend of mine always says “Traveling is a violation”, and I’m going to add, especially, during the holidays.
Try to avoid the crowds. Airports and planes can get extremely crowded during peak travel periods. Waiting in long lines and navigating through crowds can be quite stressful. I wouldn’t even attempt to check luggage. Holidays are always a time when they for sure will lose a bag or two from your flight.
Of course, there is no way around it sometimes. If you need to get somewhere a plane is the only way. Just make sure you get your airline’s app so that you can keep up with cancelations or departure time changes. Get to the airport as soon as possible to make sure you don’t miss your flight getting stuck in line at TSA.
With staffing issues and weather uncertainty causing chaos in air travel, it is no surprise that more people are considering alternative transportation for their July 4th travel like walking even. 😉 It might just be the best decision you make this summer.
