Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger Loves Vegas Golden Knights Back

Nickelback is headed into T-Mobile Arena on Saturday for their Get Rollin’ tour stop. But it isn’t the first time lead singer Chad Kroeger has been in the building. Turns out, he’s been struck by the Vegas Golden Knights.

“There is a level of shock and awe that happens when the Golden Knights play, with the amount of production going on,” Kroeger said. “I don’t think the visiting teams have any idea of the decibel onslaught. It’s just MMPH, MMPH, MMPH! It’s not fair, it’s great!”

Of course, any Las Vegan knows the Golden Knights bring the show with the skates. But it turns out Chad is a member of the mutual admiration society.

What Mark Stone had to say about Nickelback’s music has Chad Kroeger cheering for the Knights.

“Who’s your team, I have to ask,” Shawn asked. “This year, Vegas,” Chad said with a sly grin. It’s a surprising take knowing how much the rest of the NHL world seems to despise the team. Sure, VGK have the most Canadian players in the league. But for Chad, there is no hate from him, and he explains why others may take issue with the team. “Maybe because the captain of the team didn’t say something nice about their band!”

He’s talking about an interview with Canadian sports network Sportsnet. They were asking players who they like listening to pre-game. “Well for me it’d probably be Nickelback,” said VGK captain and Canadian-born Mark Stone. “It doesn’t get played very much, unfortunately.”

“I was like ‘I love you’,” Chad said enthusiastically, with his fists in the air. Turns out Chad’s fandom may have put the Knights over the top this year.

Are you a fan of rock music? Then you must have heard the name Nickelback. The Canadian rock band has been the topic of heated debates for over two decades now. Whether it’s music or public image, Nickelback has received both fanatics and criticism since their debut in 1996. Love them or hate them, you just can’t ignore them.

And love them or hate them, you can most likely sing all of their songs.

Canadian musicians Chad Kroeger, Ryan Peake, Mike Kroeger, and Brandon Kroeger formed the band and released their first album, “Curb.” But, it was their third album, “Silver Side Up,” that launched them into mainstream success in 2001. The album’s lead single, “How You Remind Me,” earned the band a Grammy nomination and topped the Billboard charts for weeks! I remember singing… or I should say screaming this in my car in high school. From then on, there was no stopping the band as they continued to release back-to-back hits like “Photograph,” “Rockstar,” and “Someday.”

Despite their commercial success, Nickelback has always been the subject of ridicule and memes on social media. They became one of the most hated bands in the world, with many bashing them for who knows what. But, interestingly, the band never let the criticism bring them down and instead, they embraced their trolls with humor and self-deprecating memes, which became viral sensations. One of the greatest  “poke fun of Nickleback” if you will is “Look at this Graph” and if you haven’t seen it, you need to. This was made years ago to make fun of them but it actually brought them even more success I believe.

Apart from their music and memes, Nickelback has also been known for their philanthropic work. The band has supported numerous charities and social causes throughout their career, including “World Vision Canada,” “Child Find Alberta,” and “The Royal University Hospital Foundation.”

Nickelback’s journey has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride — from their humble beginnings in Canada to becoming one of the most commercially successful rock bands of all time, they have undoubtedly left their mark on the music industry. And in my heart!

They are about to kick off their upcoming tour in 2023, here are the top 10 songs I hope we get to hear!
