Imagine Dragons Releases BTS Documentary ‘Live In Vegas’
It has been a wild ride for Las Vegas’ own Imagine Dragons. The boys went from winning a local band contest to headlining Allegiant Stadium in a little more than a decade. The band is now pulling back the curtain on their run in a new Imagine Dragons documentary and concert special premiering today, Imagine Dragons: Live In Vegas. One watch of the preview and it’s clear that this is a raw and honest look at the band’s humble beginnings.
“Our goal was to be a self-sustained indie band,” said Dan Reynolds in the preview for the Hulu doc. “We could make enough money to make rent and have food.” What followed was a storyline that you couldn’t write as it’s too perfect. Imagine Dragons was playing a concert in 2008 at Desert Breeze Park in a local “Battle of the Bands”. That concert, by the way, was put together in part by 102.7 VGS Chief Content Officer Justin Chase.
Imagine Dragons would win that battle and play a secondary stage. Not bad, right? Well… it would get better.
How Train played a role in Imagine Dragons success
The band Train was red hot and were set to headline the concert. But there was a problem. Lead singer Pat Monahan was having major vocal issues and was unable to perform. Would tens of thousands be sent home disappointed? Justin decided to put Imagine Dragons on stage to close the show.
That spark led to the beginning of their major label career and an incredible run that led them to the biggest show in the history of Las Vegas-based musicians.
Much of the documentary features a performance from this January at Park MGM. The exclusive event was incredible, with cameras everywhere. We were there, and you can catch pictures below!
