Henderson Seeks World Domination In Little League World Series
It is the dream of every young little league baseball player to one day get the chance to play in the Little League World Series. The games played in Williamsport, Pennsylvania seem to capture the attention and adoration of the nation with games broadcast nationally. Well, the dreams of Henderson Little League players are becoming a reality as they punched their ticket to the promised land.
Henderson ran the table and swept the Little League Baseball Mountain Region tournament! The championship game resulted in a dominant 10-0 shut out of Utah on Friday. Now, the boys hit the road (more than likely the skies) to the big show – the Little League World Series!
This is the second time a team from Nevada has made it to the dance. In 2014, a team from Las Vegas made it as well! Mountain Ridge made it all the way to the US Championship game, losing to Chicago. However, Chicago would later be stripped of their title after some of the kids were deemed ineligible to play. But it was little consolation for Nevada as the national title wasn’t revoked until long after the World Series took place.
Many MLB Players Have Played In The Little League World Series – And Henderson Is Next!
The list of current and former Major League Baseball players that have made their way through the LLWS is long! In total, 64 MLB players had an appearance in the half-pint version of the World Series.
Jeff Frazier, Todd Frazier, Christian Bethancourt, John Lester and and Nick Pratto are just a few. Not to mention former Boston Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek. He is the first to be in a Little League World Series, College World Series, Major League Baseball World Series as well as representing the nation in the Summer Olympics.
There is no question Henderson has earned their way to Williamsport! We are excited to see them represent the valley! Their first game is Wednesday, August 16th at Noon.
