Beasley Las Vegas Supports In Solidarity At Local St. Baldrick’s Event
Picture this – a bald head, a sea of smiling faces, and plenty of high fives. Initially, it might come off as a pretty unusual picture to paint, but what if we told you it was a way of taking a stand against cancer? This is precisely what the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and St. Baldrick’s events are all about, and on Saturday, September 9th, members of Beasley Media Group’s Las Vegas staff gathered at the annual St. Baldrick’s event hosted by McMullan’s Irish Pub to stand in solidarity and support childhood cancer research.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation and its events have become a common sight in various parts of the world, but what exactly does one experience at such a fundraiser? These events attract countless volunteers who submit themselves to the bald clippers, raising money through sponsorships for every inch of hair they lose. Yes… Every bit of hair. From luscious locks on the top of their heads and distinguished mustaches, to flowy beards and bushy eyebrows, participants will typically sacrifice any ounce of hair they have in order to raise as much as they possibly can. And as a consequence, the foundation has become one of the largest donors for research in childhood cancers, funding clinical trials, and supporting research initiatives on several fronts.
Operations Manager and Digital Programming Director, Cat Thomas, is no stranger to “braving the shave” at McMullan’s annual St. Baldrick’s event, as Thomas fundraises for the event each and every year. This year, he was cheered on by staff members of 102.7 VGS and X107.5, as his head was shaved. In fact, our fearless leader even let some of our very own local on-air talents take over the clippers and craft his new hairdo. Sammi Reeves, Afternoons on 102.7 VGS and Carlota Gonzalez, Middays on X107.5 each took turns shaving his eyebrows, resulting in additional funds donated to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
While the event was an incredible opportunity for our local Las Vegas Beasley Media Group cluster to come together and support such an important cause, even greater than that, the experience further connected our community. Our Beasley Las Vegas staff were honored to attend and partake in McMullan’s annual St. Baldrick’s fundraising event, and we look forward to continuing our support in the years to come.
