Give Blood And Get Brunch This Saturday For LLS Las Vegas
If you know someone that has fought blood cancer, you know it is an absolute battle. The need for blood transfusions is immense, which means the need for blood donors is large as well. Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is teaming up with Broken Yolk Cafe in southwest Las Vegas this Saturday, September 30th that will help you give back and get brunch at the same time.
The “Love Give Back Day” event is a Brunch n’ Blood Drive. It’s your chance to give blood with help from Vitalant. There will also be some free swag, raffles to enter and prizes to win, and specialty cocktails using Tito’s Vodka, who will be matching the first $5000 in donations for the day!
LLS Las Vegas has a major need for blood donors
If you don’t understand how the science of blood works, here is a quick refresher:
- Red blood cells carry oxygen through the body and take carbon dioxide to your lungs to exhale.
- White blood cells are like your body’s bouncers. They guard the club and if an intruder comes in, they’ll pounce on them.
The problem is that leukemia, lymphoma and other blood diseases can wreck havoc on our body’s ability to produce these cells, causing anemia or leukopenia. That’s why using healthy blood via a transfusion is so important.
While the transfusion doesn’t eliminate the cancer (that would be nice) it helps bolster the patient’s ability to fight off illness. While many think of blood transfusion as something needed for someone in an emergency, many people depend on regular transfusions to survive.

The event gets underway at 7am with the blood drive beginning at 10am. The need for donations, both blood and bucks, is incredibly high and your involvement can help LLS make a big difference.
