Las Vegas Toddler Shoots Themselves With Loaded Gun Left At Playground
In a horrible turn of events, a toddler shot themselves and is in critical condition after a gun was left on a playground, according to 8 News Now.
It’s a tragic story that seems unreal. Earlier Friday, a teenager allegedly shot another man and ran from the scene, according to 8 News Now. As he ran, he “hid’ the loaded gun in a playground section of a local day care. One crime turned into another because what unfolded after was even further disturbing.
A child from the day care picked up the gun — allegedly — and it discharged, Fox 5 reports. The toddler shot themselves, and police identified the toddler as being “under five-years old.” The toddler is in “stable but critical condition.”
This story started at 10 a.m. Friday when the accused teenager got into a fight with an adult on a public bus. The fight seemed to have escalated because the teenager allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the adult, Fox 5 reports.
8 News Now further reported that the suspect ran from the bus-shooting scene and “jumped over a wall into a day care center in the area near Nellis Boulevard and Kell Lane.”
This is when he allegedly hid the gun in the day care’s playground. And only a few moments later, the tragic incident occurred with the toddler being shot.
The adult who was injured in the earlier incident was in staple condition, multiple outlets reported.
When the pre-school realized what happened, school officials were able to alert the police department who provided “life-saving” measures.
Another Tragic Incident Of A Toddler Getting Shot
In May 2023, a two-year-old was shot in the head while playing outside in a fenced area of a day care, CNN reported.
A man was shooting birds in an area west of the day care, CNN reported. Allegedly, one of the bullets went stray and hit the two-year-old in the head. Initially, day care workers thought the toddler was hit in the head (and understandingly so). But later at the hospital, doctors discovered a small bullet in the child’s head.
