Mayor Goodman Talks “Home For The Holidays” With Aimee+Shawn
Imagine walking into your home and all the furniture is practically gone. Sleeping bags instead of mattresses. Milk crates instead of a comfortable couch. No table to eat dinner at. While it is a frightening thought, it is the reality for many who live in the Las Vegas valley. That’s where Walker Furniture and their “Home For The Holidays” campaign comes in.
For three decades, Walker has put out the call for stories of people in need. Some nominate themselves, many others nominate someone they know and love. The stories pour into Walker and from there, the Helping Hands of Vegas Valley and many community volunteers go through each story to help get to the most deserving finalists.
This year, Walker Furniture is filling 35 homes with furniture. Not just a lamp here or a table there. Every family gets the works, and specifically for their circumstances. No more sharing beds. No more making do. Nothing but the best for a family that deserves it.
Mayor Carolyn Goodman stopped by Aimee+Shawn to talk about the campaign and all the good that Walker has done throughout the years.
How can I nominate someone for Walker Furniture’s “Home For The Holidays”?
If you know someone or a family that is in dire need of the creature comforts of home, reach out to Walker Furniture. They are looking for submissions by December 12th. 35 families will be selected and will receive brand new furniture throughout their home. From the living room to the bedrooms to the dining room.
Make sure your nomination is as descriptive as possible and you can accurately convey their need. The more volunteers get to know about the family, the more they can gauge the need.
Then on the week of December 18th, recipients of this year’s Home For The Holidays program will be notified! It’s a wonderful program, and if you know someone who could benefit you should nominate them!
