Second Lap: F1 Las Vegas Announces Start Time For 2024 Race
We were really gung ho on the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix coming to town early last year. Seriously, look at the coverage. But as time went on, the race – and all the trouble that came with it – started to wear thin. Never-ending paving, road closures, lane restrictions, detours, temporary bridges that wiped out local businesses. Yeah. Needless to say many in the valley are a bit exhausted with the Formula 1 experience.
Turn that frown upside down! F1 Las Vegas is coming back!
Oh, joy. While lane restrictions are still underway for last year’s event, the organizers have announced what date – and now what time – to expect the 2024 edition of the race.
The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (we’ll call it FIA moving forward) announced that despite teams, drivers and fans wanting an earlier start time… they aren’t caving. The 2024 race will take place on Saturday, November 23rd at 10pm. That’s right, a late night for the west coast, an even later night for east coast fans, all to cater to European super fans.
The sport is trying to branch out and make more North American fans. This might not be how you do it.
Whether you like it or not, F1 Las Vegas is here for at least a little while longer
Formula 1 didn’t build a massive building off Harmon for their health. The race organizers and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority have a three year deal in place… with the hopes and expectations that the race will continue far into the future.
That said, there are several businesses that would like a word with someone – anyone – about their dwindling income due to the crazy roadwork and detours that took place for the race.
Listen, we think the race looked awesome (except for that manhole cover)… but they need to make it work for everyone. Maybe we’ll cross that bridge next year. Just don’t stop on it.
