Why You May Be Addicted To Cheese
You may be addicted to cheese just like me. I started watching a documentary on Netflix called “You Are What You Eat”. It’s a short series that explores the relationship between food and health. It dives into how our diets affect our overall well-being. The series examines different perspectives on dietary choices and their effects on our physical and mental health. They did their studies on identical twins to get a better read.
That being said.. I am only 2 episodes in and one thing I can not stop thinking about is something someone said in the documentary that made me look and think about my own diet and life. Chef Miyoko Schinner said, “Cheese actually has something called casomorphin, which is a hormone that’s released when casein, which is milk protein, breaks down in your body.”
I am addicted to cheese!
There I said it. The first step is admitting there is a problem right? When she was talking about how it can be addicting, I realized that I am absolutely addicted to cheese and I didn’t realize it. I put cheese on everything. Salads, pasta, sandwiches, burgers, potatoes, Tostitos, chili, eggs… I mean the list goes on and on. Cottage, blue, grilled, mac, etc, there isn’t a cheese I ever met I didn’t like. They had challenged the different sets of twins to change their diets and cut out certain things for 8 weeks. I don’t think I could cut cheese out of my diet.
Could you go 8 weeks without cheese? If you are like me, and you aren’t ever going to give it up then you have to check out my favorite deli in the Smith’s Marketplace in the Northwest area. They always have the most fresh, specialty cheeses for your next party, or for your cute charcuterie board for your date night in. If cheese is wrong I don’t want to be right!
