Pantry And Fridge Essentials & 6 Easy Dinner Ideas
Do you know what the pantry and fridge essentials are? Let me help you out real quick. When we got back from vacation I realized we were totally out of food in our pantry and fridge.
But it was Wednesday and I normally order groceries on Sundays. It is a first-world problem, but it was going to mess up the rhythm of grocery shopping. (If you know, you know).
So I headed to the store and got the pantry and fridge essentials aka staples. Enough for us to get by for the next few days. And when I was talking to my sister about the “fridge and pantry essentials” she didn’t know what they were so I wanted to share my staples with everyone.
If you always have these items in your pantry and or fridge you will be able to feed your family if you’re in a bind.
A List Of Both Pantry And Fridge Essentials:
Pantry Essentials:
- Pasta (any type you prefer. I do ziti)
- Rice
- Canned tomatoes
- Olive Oil
- Broth (I always have both chicken and beef)
- Breadcrumbs
- Soy Sauce
- Salt Pepper
Fridge Essentials:
- Eggs
- Milk (I always have regular and heavy whipping cream)
- Butter
- Garlic
- CHEESE! (I could live on it)
- Veggies (frozen will last longer)
- Meat or Protein (chicken breast and ground beef or turkey)
With these staple ingredients, you can make a variety of dinners or lunches including these:
- Pasta Premivera – Cook your pasta. Saute the veggies of your choice in olive oil and garlic. Toss the pasta in the veggie mix and add grated cheese.
- Veggie Stir Fry – Cook veggies and chicken in a skillet with soy sauce and garlic. Serve over cooked rice.
- Cheesy Baked Chicken – Coat chicken in breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and grated cheese. Bake chicken until cooked through and cook some veggies and rice for the side dishes.
- Pasta and Tomato – Cook pasta, add a can of tomatoes, salt, pepper, grated cheese, and some veggies.
- Scrambled eggs with veggies and cheese.
- Chicken Alfredo – cook chicken in a skillet, cook your pasta, add heavy whipping cream, butter, salt pepper, and grated parmesan cheese. Ta-Da! (full alfredo sauce recipe from here)
These are just a few examples of pantry and fridge essentials, but there are so many possibilities depending on what you like and what you have available to you.
