Lived In 1970s Las Vegas? City Wants You For Documentary
You often hear that Las Vegas likes to blow up its history. Honestly, there is some truth to that. Las Vegas is all about the “new” and “extravagant,” and anything that is long in the tooth gets chucked. My dad lived in 1970s Las Vegas as one of the first pit bosses at the Barbary Coast in 1979. He, like many who lived in the valley during that era, experienced a totally different Las Vegas than we are seeing today. If you are reading this and can relate, the City Of Las Vegas wants to hear from you for a new documentary.
City Looking For People Who Lived In 1970s Las Vegas
The organization the Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial have been working on a series of documentaries in order to capture what life was like in Las Vegas before present day. The series begins with the early days and has been going forward by decades.
Now the series is looking to the 1970s. A land of tan, taupe and more. Las Vegas was barely a fleck on the map compared to today. Downtown Las Vegas was still bustling while the Las Vegas Strip was still in its infancy. It is almost unbelievable to people living in modern day Las Vegas, which is why they are looking to the public to give a voice to that timeframe and what it was like in the city back then.
If you or someone you know would be a great addition to this telling of living in 1970s Las Vegas, you can reach out to the documentary’s producers at [email protected]. The videos live both on the City Of Las Vegas YouTube channel as well as on KCLV Channel 2, the City’s television station.
We just want to hear what it was like when eating in Las Vegas was super cheap and there were no resort fees. It sounds lovely!
