April Fools, You Can’t Get Married At The Sphere
You’ll hear some people say they had a ball at their wedding. But the premise of having the ball at your wedding was too cool for many. That’s right, the chance to get married at the Sphere and have it broadcast on the outside Exosphere sounded incredible!
Too bad it was a big, fat lie.
The Idea To Get Married At The Sphere Was Cool, But It Ain’t Happening
Some April Fools jokes are pretty clear. “Disneyland is moving to Las Vegas” was totally not happening. MGM Resorts getting rid of parking fees and removing 6/5 Blackjack sounded nice but there was no way they were leaving that money on the table.
One lucky couple getting married at The Sphere, though? That sounds feasible! It had many fooled into believing it, including News 3.
The promotion said that the Sphere was teaming up with Chapel Of The Flowers (who has an actual chapel you can actually get married at on Las Vegas Boulevard and Oakey) for a “one of a kind” wedding experience.
One lucky couple would be chose for a special ceremony at the Sphere and have their wedding seen far and wide throughout the Las Vegas valley. (Although, if you really think about it, there is likely no way they will not make you look bulbous on that screen.)
Well, the Chapel came out and admitted it was all a rouse. Although they did admit to News 3 that they actually do hope to make the collaboration a reality. The power of positive thinking can’t hurt.
The biggest tell was the press release saying the event would take place on April 31st. There are only 30 days in the month.
If you get married at the Sphere, it might be the most expensive wedding venue ever. Four hours on the Exosphere screen runs a cool $450,000. That doesn’t even include parking!
If you are bummed by the news, maybe you should look into Denny’s in Downtown. They’ll marry you, no joke.
