MultiVersus NHL Collab Brings Animated VGK Game Sunday
The Vegas Golden Knights are in the fight for final points as the regular season wraps up and the post-season gets underway. Sunday, April 14th will be no laughing matter when they host the Colorado Avalanche. Well, it might be if you watch the ‘MultiVersus NHL Face-Off.’
Sunday’s game will be nationally televised on TNT. However, their television partner truTV will be broadcasting the game with the same pizazz as Disney and Nickelodeon have done with other sports. The MultiVersus NHL Face-Off will be a fully animated event that might have you chuckle your “ice” off.
MultiVersus NHL Face-Off Makes Batman A Golden Knight
TNT, which has national rights to the National Hockey League games, is also part of the same corporate cousin as Warner Brothers, who has a lot of characters ripe for the animating. Velma and Shaggy, Superman and Batman, Wonder Woman, Bugs Bunny and more will be a part of the game.
It is a play off of Warner Bros. Games MultiVersus game, bringing several different characters from several different franchises together in the video game world. Just like watching Mario and Sonic face off in the Olympics, you’ll be able to see Tom and Jerry take on Rick and Morty in the game. Sounds pretty fun!
The draft for the game took place Sunday and Vegas is in the money. Batman, Bugs Bunny, Wonder Woman and Shaggy from Scooby Doo are playing for the Knights. Meanwhile Superman, Velma, Steven Universe Finn The Human will be playing for the lowly Colorado Avalanche.
This Is The Latest In A Myriad Of “Alternate Broadcasts” Of Sports Events
We are living in wild times. The MultiVersus NHL collaboration is just the latest in a sea of alternate sporting event broadcasts. Disney has been doing this in hockey games as of late with the “NHL Big City Greens Classic,” which is adorably quirky.
Meanwhile, we have grown accustomed to Nickelodeon’s alternate broadcast of the Super Bowl and other NFL games. Their take is less “entire animation takeover” and more augmented reality.
The technology has come a long, LONG way, and we are looking forward to seeing what Sunday has to bring.
