Vegas Loop Stop Near UNLV Gets Underway
For a while, the Vegas Loop was just a few stops underneath the Las Vegas Convention Center with Tesla cars driving inside. But there are much bigger plans for the underground tunnel system. Now, the Vegas Loop stop near UNLV is the next in the project’s sights.
According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, drilling by Elon Musk’s The Boring Company has begun between the Las Vegas Convention Center and around the UNLV campus. The tunnel, the first of two planned for the route, could be finished in a year’s time according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority CEO Steve Hill.
Where Will The Vegas Loop Stop Near UNLV Be Located?
So how will UNLV be served by the Vegas Loop? In between the busy byways of Paradise Road and University Center Drive, just west of the Thomas & Mack Center, will be the site of the Vegas Loop stop near UNLV. Is it centrally located on the campus? No, not quite. But the route does have other locations in its sights.
The same tunnel could serve the Virgin Hotels stop on Paradise and potentially be extended towards Harry Reid International Airport. That could be the “killer app” for the service, even if at the end of the day, it’s just a person driving underground.
Where Else Will The Vegas Loop Stop?
There are many other planned stops for the Vegas Loop. From Allegiant Stadium to Chinatown on Spring Mountain road to even Downtown Las Vegas. It is pretty much planned to go anywhere and everywhere you’d hope it to go along the tourist areas of Las Vegas. While it might not serve as a good option for locals, it could potentially relieve snarled traffic above ground.
Hopefully they watch where they are digging this time though. It turns out they may not have the best aim under there.
