Hate Your Job? Here’s Some Hacks To Make It Better
Growing up, we all have our “dream jobs.” We can’t wait to enter the work force and become real life adult humans. Then… You actually become an adult, and instead of that dream job you always wanted, you’re stuck in a gig that is totally miserable and makes you hate your job. Bleh. Fortunately, if you hate your job, there are several tips and tricks you can use to make your days on the clock a little less miserable…
Hate Your Job A Little Less By Maintaining Boundaries
You go to work, and you’re working. You come home in the evening, and you’re still working. If you currently hate your job because you just can’t seem to escape it, not to fear. You just need to learn how to set and maintain some healthy boundaries.
I know this is way easier said than done, but it is totally possible with any gig, even the most time-consuming and urgent of them all. Try setting hours that you are available via phone and email each day. Make yourself available during those hours and those hours only, and watch your life transform. Trust me… Most of the time, whatever it is that needs to be communicated so badly can wait.
Find The Little Joys In Working Towards The Bigger Picture
For many, life is all about feeling like we have purpose. And in every job, purpose can be found. Some jobs, you just have to look a little deeper. There is a “bigger picture” that you’re working towards, and finding the little things that bring you happiness buried within your journey towards that “bigger picture” will be a major key to not hate your job.
Maybe you have an awesome co-worker that brings a little sunshine to your day. Or maybe you just love the free coffee your gig provides. Whatever they are, use those things as crutches to get you to the finish line each day. After all, it could always be worse, right?
Constantly Celebrate… Even The Smallest Of Wins
Life is but a party, and we need to keep that party going even though you hate your job. And don’t worry… it’s not that hard!
You finished a task that you’ve been working on for weeks (or maybe even just a couple days)? You totally nailed an important presentation? You survived a super long and totally mind-numbing meeting with your boss? It’s time to celebrate! It’s a horrible feeling to hate your job and the many tasks that it’s made up of, but celebrating a mini milestone is just one simple step to hate your job a little less.
Consider Looking For A New Gig
If you struggle to find joy in your everyday job, there’s always the opportunity to look for a new one that might bring you more fulfillment and happiness.
A great place to start is looking at jobs that are remote positions. This will allow you a lot more flexibility and freedom during your work day (and think about all the money you’ll save on gas). A ton of people love their remote jobs, and just maybe, you would too!
