U2 At The Sphere Once Again (Sort Of)
When we first saw U2 at The Sphere, everything was different. We had never seen anything at the venue before and frankly our brains were somewhat incapable of understanding what a show would look like in the multi-billion dollar venue.
Well, we know how U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At The Sphere went. That is, really really well. 40 sold out shows, 663,000 in the audience, nearly a quarter billion dollars made. The venue was cemented as likely the coolest place on the planet for artists to perform. Dead & Company, The Eagles, Anyma and more all benefit from their trailblazing performances.
It’s The Return Of U2 At The Sphere… Via Video
Well now U2 is returning to the Sphere. But no, it isn’t in the flesh (even though they could probably sell out another 40 shows).
No, now it is via a new movie that premieres at the venue. V-U2: An Immersive Concert Film at Sphere Las Vegas is being billed as a “one of a kind cinematic experience” that will be beyond meta. A concert film showing at a venue where the concert was filmed.
The film, premiering September 5th, will give everyone seated a front row glimpse at the amazing run of shows and will be the next best thing to seeing U2 live.
The return (cinematically) of U2 at The Sphere will use all of the Sphere’s many toys. Big screen, thousands of speakers and even immersive haptic seats that will allow the audience to not only see and hear the concert film, but feel it as well.
Tickets for the film showing U2 at The Sphere will not be cheap, starting at $100 beginning Friday, August 23rd at 10am. Bright side, it will definitely be the cheapest ticket to see U2 at the Sphere ever. And don’t think they won’t sell at that price. Postcard From Earth, the movie that airs daily at the venue, makes the Sphere a million dollars a day. Not bad for pressing play.
