Mackle No More: Macklemore Drops Out Of Neon City Festival
Wow. We just told you last week that Macklemore would be among several artists set to play the inaugural Neon City Festival. The free concert, part of a collaboration between the Las Vegas Convention And Visitors Authority teamed up with Fremont Street Experience and Downtown Las Vegas big wig Derek Stevens, was meant to prop up business to Downtown while F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix roars around the Strip.
Well, we’ve got news. Macklemore is no more. The Seattle based rapper announcing that “due to unforeseen circumstances” he would no longer be playing the show November 22nd through 24th in Downtown Las Vegas. Tickets will not be refunded, as there are none.
What Unforeseen Circumstances Led To Macklemore Dropping Out?
The reason Macklemore is no longer on the line-up might have something to do with an anti-American statement he had at a recent concert in his hometown of Seattle. At the “Palestine Will Live Forever” concert, a fundraiser to help aide civilians in the bloody war between Israel and Hamas, he let his feelings known about how he feels about the country and their military aid to Israel. (Viewer discretion is advised)
“Straight up. Say it. I’m not gonna stop you. I’m not gonna stop you,” Macklemore said. “Um, yeah, f*** America.”
Yeah, that probably won’t do it chief. Whether this is the reason behind his no longer being on the bill is unknown, but it certainly doesn’t bode well for his career.
Neon City Festival Lineup: You Can’t Beat The Price
Hey, what? Are you mad at the free concert lineup? It’s free! Neon Trees will be performing, alongside country artist Russell Dickerson and DJs Seven Lions and Alison Wonderland. Plus event organizers say more is up their sleeve.
So that makes Macklemore and Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day now likely persona non grata in Las Vegas. Any others?
