I know it’s hot still in Las Vegas but Halloween is right around the corner, and this is about the time that people pull out the dusty costumes they wear every year because they find them reliable. You know the sexy nurse, sexy you fill in the blank. As classic as these costumes are I think 2024 is the year you switch it up. Let’s get creative, fresh, and even maybe funny ideas that will let you stand out at your Halloween party this year.

One funny Halloween costume would be the “Zoom Call Fail” – wear a costume that shows the times. Modern work from home era. Wear a business suit jacket or business top and gym shorts or yoga pants on the bottom. You can wear your headset but also have a glass of wine. Add cardboard in the back for a blurry background but let it still look like you are in bed or the bathroom.

Another funny Halloween costume for 2024 is to be AI. Wear an almost robot or futuristic outfit with robot elements and carry a speech bubble prop or whiteboard filled with overly used phrases like “I’m sorry, I don’t understand” or “How can I assist you today?” If you are witty enough you can have people write on the whiteboard or say out loud their question and you can write or say your answer and make it funny.

How about being a viral meme Halloween costume? You can be the Olympic break dancer or you can be the Grimace Shake. Those took over the internet this year. Easy, funny, and quick.

This Halloween, ditch the predictable costumes and try something unique and creative. It’s not only about dressing up in your new Halloween costume but also about bringing some creativity and laughter into the Halloween and fall season activities. Try to get the family involved too! Halloween is the time of year when spookiness takes center stage, and creative costumes rule the streets. It’s also the day of the beloved tradition, trick-or-treating. Whether you’re a kid dreaming of a candy jackpot or an adult admiring the neighborhood’s costume creativity while handing out treats, it’s a highlight of the year.

However, you’ll always find that one neighbor who likes to shake things up by handing out something other than candy. It’s not always a bad thing, though. Some people do it for a good reason, like considering kids with dietary restrictions. But if you’re considering going outside the box, you should avoid certain trick-or-treat handouts.

Let’s talk about the Halloween horrors, the stuff no one wants in their trick-or-treat bag. First on the list are those infamous toothbrushes or dental floss packs. Halloween is the one night a year when kids can indulge in a sugar frenzy, and suddenly, you’re handed a dental hygiene product. It’s like being told to eat your veggies at a birthday party. Then there are the homemade treats. While some homemade goodies can be delicious, receiving unlabeled, homemade treats can make even the bravest trick-or-treater think twice; also, most parent’s won’t feel comfortable with that and may dispose of them. All of your hard work will go to waste! Safety is paramount on Halloween, and unwrapped or unlabeled edibles can raise concerns.

Another item to avoid is pennies. They’re not even worth the trip to the store, and they make you question if you’ve accidentally stumbled into a time machine back to the 1950s. If you’re going to give out money on Halloween, make it worthwhile if you can swing it. While Halloween is all about surprises, pennies are definitely not the kind of surprises anyone hopes for.
