CCSD Superintendent Search To Continue Into 2025
Man, oh man. The Clark County School District is having themselves a year. Lawsuit after lawsuit, illegal board trustees, major financial issues. Oh, and they paid the last Superintendent to leave. Now the CCSD Superintendent search is well underway and while a decision was set to be reached next month, you’re going to need to buy a 2025 calendar.
At Thursday night’s Board Of Trustees meeting, the board decided to push back to the selection of the district’s next Superintendent from October 30th to March 27th, 2025. That’s a full five months to get it right.
The Firm Hired In CCSD Superintendent Search Begged Them To Delay
Let’s not get it twisted, they didn’t come to this on their own. Instead, Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates (aka HYA) made it clear that it would be in the best interest of the district to delay. Why?
The candidates are paying close attention to what is going on right now and frankly, they are a bit concerned. Huge financial issues, an empty board seat vacated by Nebraska resident Katie Williams that will be filled for two months by an interim trustee, and more.
To put it in the words of Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates: “Candidates are ‘interviewing’ the board as much as the trustees are interviewing the candidates. Candidates are concerned that the newly elected board would not have been part of the superintendent selection decision-making process.”
Yeah, there’s that too. Not only is there an empty seat, but other seats are about to change. And if you’ve watched any of the Board Of Trustees meetings as of late you know people aren’t particularly pleased with everyone with a chair right now.
So, we now sit and patiently wait while fires are put out, trustees are voted out and lawsuits are played out. We promise, candidates in the CCSD Superintendent search, we are a good place. We just need some love.
