Give Back At 1 October Blood Drive This Tuesday
October 1st, 2017 was a day that our community will never shake. We all know and remember what happened that day. Dozens dead, hundreds wounded, tens of thousands forever affected and a city of millions rocked to its core.
The next day, October 2nd, was an incredible day in the Las Vegas valley. People from all over the valley jumped into action to do something – anything – to give back. One of the most memorable scenes was a massive line in front of the then United Blood Services main office on West Charleston near Rainbow to donate blood to help the countless in local hospitals.
It was on October 2nd that Las Vegas proved what it was made of. While lines of donors came and went, the need for blood is constant.
1 October Blood Drive Happening On 7 Year Anniversary
The Vegas Golden Knights are hosting a 1 October Blood Drive at City National Arena in Downtown Summerlin from 9am to 3pm Tuesday. People of all blood types are encouraged to take part, and in particular Type O negative blood, which is the “universal” blood type that will work for transfusions for all other blood types.
The 1 October Blood Drive will be giving all donors a free Vegas Golden Knights championship banner, along with a 1 October Blood Drive t-shirt. Plus you’ll be able to enter to win tickets to the Vegas Golden Knights preseason game on Thursday!
VGK Giving Back To First Responders
In addition to the 1 October Blood Drive, first responders are invited to come down to City National Arena to take in a special practice session and meet and greet event.
Several members of local law enforcement and fire departments have pre-registered to be a part of the event, with players, alumni, broadcasters and more doing a meet and greet upstairs at MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub after the event.
