Easy Everyday Tips To Beat Flu Season
Flu season is here, and for many families, it’s hitting hard (including my own). Even in Vegas the flu and sickness is running rampant. After a bout with strep throat that ran through our entire household, we said we were going to do everything we could to avoid letting the flu into our house. Here are some simple yet effective ways to stay healthy this season:
Wash hands regularly.
I know it sounds repetitive, but handwashing is one of the easiest and most effective ways to prevent spreading your germs or catching others. Especially during the holiday travels or should I say flu season. Use warm water and soap, and scrub for at least 20 seconds. Teach our kids how important it is while you’re doing it.
Keep Surfaces Clean
Clorox wipes are your friend. Again, sounds repetitive, but make it easy for yourself by keeping wipes in easy to grab places. Disinfect high-touch surfaces like doorknobs, your steering wheel, light switches, and remote controls daily. If someone in the house is already sick, step up your cleaning. You’ll thank me later!
Boost Your Immunity
Load up on vitamins and nutrients. Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and Zinc are my go-to daily to get a head start on flu season Also, eat healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, and proteins to keep your body fueled and ready for the flu fight!
Get enough sleep
A good night’s sleep is so important for a strong immune system. Make sure everyone in the family is getting enough rest. I know easier said that done but try to at least get 7-8 hours for adults and even more for kids.
WATER
Drinking plenty of water. It helps your body flush out toxins and keeps your immune system working the right way. Herbal teas with honey are also great for soothing sore throats and staying hydrated.
Get the Flu Shot
If this is something your family does – getting the flu shot for flu season is a key step in preventing the flu. It’s especially important for young kids, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Check with your doctor or local pharmacy for availability. You can get it for free at most places.
Stay Active
Regular exercise can help boost your immune system. I love hot yoga to flush out the toxins. But even a brisk walk outside can do wonders for your health not to mention your mood.
But in the case that it does hit your house have tissues, hand sanitizer, over-the-counter medications, and comfort items like soup and tea at your house so you are ready to get better fast.
Stay well, everyone and kiss flu season goodbye.
