Why Are Cones All Over East Sunset Road?
The Nevada State Flower is back in full bloom. Interstate 15 will be closing twice, once in each direction, this week. Now there’ll be cones all over East Sunset Road near Reid International Airport beginning Tuesday, December 3rd.
When all is said and done, it’ll be a nicely repaired and treated road. But until then, gear up.
Great, Cones All Over East Sunset Road – What Can I Expect?
Beginning Tuesday from 6am to 2pm and every day until Thursday, December 19th, the Nevada Department Of Transportation will be littering cones all over East Sunset Road between Las Vegas Boulevard and Pecos Road to do necessary road repairs.
Everything from potholes to cracks will be paved over and sealed in the never ending whack-a-mole of trying to repair roads in the valley.
“But why do it in the daytime?” you might ask. According to the Nevada DOT, in order for the repairs to take they need to do it under the sun. The colder it gets, the more unlikely the repairs will be successful. Of course.
You can expect rolling road restrictions, where the area of the lane closures will change throughout the day. Try to find another route if it is possible.
And Guess What? It’s Just The Beginning
Sure, roads need repairing, but what if we told you they’ll be ripping up the road entirely soon? Yep.
Next year, much of the road will be getting a full repave, between Las Vegas Boulevard and Annie Oakley Drive. Why don’t they just leave it until the Spring when the repave is set to take place? We couldn’t tell you.
