Wrong Way Driver In I-15 Crash In Country Illegally
It’s a story that has gone from really bad to even worse. The wrong way driver on Interstate 15 that was behind the wheel when he hit a car and killed Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer Colton Pulsipher was not in the United States legally and was ordered to be deported.
31 year old Fernando Jimenez-Jimenez was the wrong way driver that took Officer Pulsipher’s life as well as his own. A third person was hurt and rushed to a Las Vegas hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A spokesperson for ICE, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, confirmed that Jimenez-Jimenez was not in the United States legally. According to 8 News Now, the wrong way driver crossed the border illegally twice in 2019 and was returned to Mexico. In 2020, he applied to become a legal citizen of the United States, but while we don’t necessarily know the status of that application, a judge ordered him removed from the country in 2021.
The Huge Void This Wrong Way Driver Left In Our Community
The incredible loss this driver caused is definitely being felt during this holiday season. Officer Colton Pulsipher was returning home to the Moapa Valley, where he is from, when he was hit and killed by Jimenez-Jimenez. At home, his wife Ashlee and three young kids: 5 year old Carlee, 2 year old Brett and 11 month old Jonny.
Yet another wrong way driver. Yet another needless death. Yet another family shattered.
While nothing can bring Colton back to his loved ones, Behind The Blue is behind a fundraiser raising money for them. The organization helps family members of those who experience incredible losses just like this one and are hoping to help make a major difference to the family. If you find it in your heart to donate, visit the Behind The Blue website.
