Well, it's Miriam Adelson and the family. According to Forbes, Miriam Adelson's current net worth is $28 billion. Forbes published a list of each state's richest billionaires, and Miriam is one of the most wealthy. Miriam Adelson is known for being the wife of mega-casino owner Sheldon Adelson -- perhaps one of the most well-recognized names in the hospitality industry. Sheldon was the founder of the Las Vegas Sands Corp. A powerhouse when it comes to Las Vegas and international resorts. "Sheldon G. Adelson, a cabdriver’s son who built the world’s largest empire of casinos and resort hotels in Las Vegas, Macau, Singapore and other gambling meccas," The New York Times reported. After Sheldon died in 2021 at 87 years old, Miriam Adelson became the driver behind the behemoth of the Las Vegas Sands Corp. "She (Miriam Adelson) and her family now own more than half of the New York Stock Exchange-listed gambling empire, which has casinos in Singapore and Macao," Forbes reports. The Richest Person In Nevada: Miriam Adelson's Story According to a report from The Guardian, Miriam's story starts in the former British Mandate of Palestine. She was born in Tel Aviv and worked as a medical research officer in the Israel Defense Forces. She studied at Rockefeller University in 1986 and actually worked with the main researcher who discovered methadone. She was also married before meeting one of the richest men in America. According to The Guardian, Miriam met Sheldon on a blind date after Sheldon said to a friend that "he’d like to date an Israeli woman." After Sheldon's death, she continues to make powerhouse business ventures and prolific political and philanthropic donations. In 2023, Adelson sold $2 billion in Las Vegas Sands stock. The proceeds from the sale were used to purchase the Dallas Mavericks "The Mavericks are owned by billionaire Miriam Adelson, a physician who is the widow of casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, and Sivan and Patrick Dumont, Adelson’s daughter and son-in-law," NBC's Dallas affiliate reported. Along with owning the Mavs and continuing the Las Vegas Sands empire and name, Miriam Adelson is still the medical director for the Dr. Miriam & Sheldon G Adelson Clinic for Drug Abuse Treatment & Research Inc, the website states. The clinic offers services for teens, pregnant women and other members of the Las Vegas community. The Adelsons founded the clinic in 2000, according to the website. "Dr. Miriam Adelson is a leading physician and expert in drug addiction," the clinic's website says. "Wanting to help the community where she resides, she founded, sponsors and manages two major drug abuse treatment and research centers, one in Las Vegas and one in Tel Aviv, Israel."
